Plow Blades, Standard - Universal
Montana Jack's Info Page
| Choosing
an ATV Plow is as simple as
1-2-3-4
-
First,
you need to select the right plow blade for your specific needs. The
standard plow is an excellent choice for most all plowing needs, including plowing under various conditions such as leveling or the need to push material to either side of the vehicle. This
plow is available in 48, 54 and 60 inch widths.
-
Second,
you need to choose how you want to lift your new plow.
-
Third,
you need to select the proper plow mounting kit for your ATV.
-
Fourth,
you can choose from the list of plow accessories to make your plow
work best for your needs.

Step 1 - Choosing the best width of
plow for your needs
The
48” standard plow is a good choice for smaller
ATV’s or when plowing in small confined areas. It is very popular
for plowing sidewalks as well. However, due to its narrow width, plowing
larger areas will require more passes. Also, your tires will be running
on material spillback from the ends of the plow whether the blade
is angled or not.
The
54” standard plow is a good choice for most any
size ATV. This is a medium width plow that will clear a slightly wider
path than the 48” plow. Tires tracking on material spillback will
be less likely, but can still be the case, especially when the blade
is angled.
The
60” standard plow is a good choice for larger ATV’s, 400 cubic
centimeters and up. It will make faster work of larger jobs. With this
plow, tires’ tracking on material spillback is not very likely,
even when the blade is at full angle. It will provide the best clearance
for the ATV when wind rowing material to a side ditch or cutting next
to curbs and shrubs without running into or over them. It can be a little
more difficult in confined areas, but still remains our preferred plow
size of choice.
No matter which of these plow widths are
right for your needs, you can trust that they have all been designed
and built with the same quality and integrity that Warn puts into all
of its products. Also, Montana Jack’s and Warn Industries offer
more plow blade accessories than any other manufacturer, to better customize
your plow to fit your specific needs.
Step 2 – Choose a lifting device
for your plow

Manual
Lift – The New Warn Manual Lift is economical and easy to
use. It requires minimal effort to lift the plow and its blade lift
height is approximately 8 inches. It attaches to the plow push tube
and base assembly. In this way, when the plow is removed from the
ATV, so is the lift mechanism, making it very convenient as well.
This lift requires your ATV to have 8 or more inches of ground clearance
to work. Assembly is required with a mechanical skill level of average
or above.
Electric
Lift – The New Warn Electric Lift or Actuator is real easy
to use. It requires practically no effort and is a pleasure to operate.
With this lift you can keep your left hand on the handle bar, maintaining
greater safety as opposed to a manual lift. Its blade lift height is
approximately 14 inches and has a 300 lb. lift capability. Its blade
lift speed is fairly rapid and has no ground clearance issues. Requires
minimal assembly with a mechanical skill level of average.
ATV
Winch – Using a winch to lift a plow works very well when
mounted correctly. When not, it can cause some serious problems. On
many models of ATV’s, the winch is mounted low in the chassis,
not allowing the plow blade to lift very high. Also, the angle of the
winch cable from the winch to the push tube anchor point can be undesirable
for efficient lifting. The strain on the winch, winch cable and/or roller
fairlead can be excessive in these conditions and require frequent repairs
and/or replacement.
An
ATV winch mounted on a “Winch Rotator” – The Winch
Rotator was designed and engineered by Montana Jack’s to address
and overcome all of the negative problems that are created when using
a winch to lift a plow. An ATV winch mounted on our Winch Rotator works
superbly. A winch has the fastest up and down cycle time of any lift.
When equipped with proper controls, you can keep your left hand on the
handle bar providing greater safety and convenience as well.
